About Nayan
Nayan Ambali invests in and advises Lokta, with a focus on scaling the business. He is a serial entrepreneur who has built lending technology for institutions and overseen a lending institution from its board, so he knows the business problems from both sides, and where technology can and cannot solve them.
In 2010 he founded Finflux, the commercial lending platform the Lokta team built on Apache Fineract, covering loan origination, underwriting, loan management and collections, and led it as CEO for thirteen years, through its acquisition by M2P Fintech in 2022, where he then served as Senior Vice President. In 2025 he co-founded Nivāsa Finance, an affordable housing finance business, and led its product, design and technology.
He has sat on the board of Digamber Finance, an RBI-registered NBFC-MFI, since 2018: first as an independent director, chairing the IT strategy committee when it was formed in 2021, and since 2022 as a non-executive director. Earlier he co-founded RuPie Finance, a branchless microfinance venture, and spent four years at Cognizant leading a team that built a service cloud for healthcare.
His open-source record runs alongside all of it. A Mifos contributor since 2010, he led development of the Mifos community app, built the Mifos-to-Mifos X migration tool, helped establish the Bangalore chapter, received the Mifos Distinguished Service Award in 2015, and now advises the Mifos Initiative on product and technology.
