For new and relaunching lenders and NBFCs
Have the loan stack ready before the licence arrives.
Prepare the book after approval while the licence is pending: configure products, write the servicing policy, agree connection responsibilities and test the controls before loan one.
- No book needed to start
- Controls from loan one
- Your choice of LOS
- Loan products defined
- Servicing and collections policy written
- Bank integration
- Credit bureau reporting
- An audit trail from loan one
- Maker-checker and roles
Written for a digital NBFC waiting on its licence, a captive NBFC inside a dealer, OEM or corporate group, a bank or HFC opening a new lending unit, and an NBFC lending again after a pause. Built by the team that helped create Apache Fineract.
Before the first loan
Six things a new lender needs on day one
Settle each one while there is no live book to rework. All six are part of Lokta Loan Management today, and the controls come in Starter, not in a later plan.
- 01
Loan products defined
Each product is set up from 200 parameters in 19 configuration domains, then simulated against your expected schedules before a borrower sees it.
- 02
Servicing and collections policy written
You write the policy: reminders, DPD buckets, who works which account, when an action needs approval. On Lokta that policy becomes the boundary agents work inside.
- 03
Bank integration
The account your repayments land in, connected so receipts post against the right loan and reconcile. Lokta’s out-of-the-box payment gateway is the quickest route.
- 04
Credit bureau reporting
Bureau reporting is part of Starter. Know the reference dates, the full and incremental files, and how a rejected record gets fixed before the first submission is due.
- 05
An audit trail from loan one
Every change to a loan is kept with its before and after state and who made it. Your first loan is on the record the same way your ten-thousandth will be.
- 06
Maker-checker and roles
One person proposes, another approves, and the system enforces the split for money movement and loan-state changes.
The mechanism under all six is the same. AI proposes, the core decides, the record proves it: an agent drafts the work, the deterministic core checks it against your policy and approvals, and only then does the loan record change.
How setup runs
Three steps from a pending licence to loan one
Tell us where the licence stands
Share your expected launch date, your loan products and the LOS you have chosen. We set out what can be prepared before the certificate and what has to wait for it.
Set up while the paperwork moves
Products are configured and simulated, your policy becomes the agents’ boundary, and the bank and bureau links are tested, all with no live book to rework.
Disburse loan one on a ready record
Your LOS hands the approved loan to Lokta by API. The schedule, receipts, DPD and audit trail run from the first loan.
Origination stays with the LOS you choose. Loan Origination is on the roadmap and is not available now. No release date is published. How we work sets out each step from the first call to go-live.
The board meeting
Take three vendors to the board on one scorecard
A new board will ask to see more than one system. Score every vendor, Lokta included, on criteria you set before the demos.
- LMS RFP toolkitA checklist, a requirements template and the questions for each shortlist.
- Vendor scorecardEleven categories weighted to 100%, three vendors side by side.
- Security questionnaireSecurity, VAPT and exit questions, answered in writing.
- The cost casePrice the stack against return on assets.
What lenders said
Lenders building a new book, on what they saw.
On why Lokta starts after sanction
“The post-sanction area is the one which still today remains a grey area.”
After the portfolio dashboards
“This kind of concise and clear dashboard I never saw.”
On the partner and payout view
“Traditional systems never had something like this.”
On seeing bucket roll-back and roll-forward at account level
“My team takes half a day today just to get this data out manually.”
Asked when he wanted servicing automated
“At this point, I can start within a month.”
At the end of the demo
“You have covered all the pain points of the smaller NBFC.”
The Starter tier, Lokta Next 100
Open to a lender with no loans yet
₹100 crore is a ceiling, not a minimum, so a fresh licence qualifies. Starter includes bureau reporting and the controls above, on the standard hosted deployment, with books hosted in-region on AWS. What it costs, and what a fresh licence skips, is set out on the pricing page.
Three ways to launch
Pick the path your board can defend
Build the servicing stack in-house
You own every line of it. Your engineers spend the months before launch on schedules, accrual and bureau files that are already solved problems, and the first loan waits on that build.
The one we built for
Set up on Starter before the first loan
Products, policy, bank link, bureau reporting and controls are ready when lending starts. It runs on the standard hosted deployment, and origination stays with your chosen LOS.
Choose a system once the licence arrives
Nothing is signed early. Selection, integration and testing then start after the certificate, so the gap between licence and first disbursal is set by vendor work.
Questions from new and relaunching lenders and NBFCs
Cost, eligibility, the pending licence, references, hosting and origination.
What does a fresh NBFC licence pay to start on Starter?
A lender with no book to migrate has the lightest start on Starter. The current fees, including what is waived for a fresh licence, are published on the pricing page, and this page links there rather than repeating figures that can change.
Is ₹100 crore the minimum book size for Starter?
No. ₹100 crore is the ceiling, not a floor. A lender with no loans yet qualifies. Pure-play microfinance NBFCs are outside the programme.
What happens when the new book grows past ₹100 crore?
Nothing moves: the book stays on the same platform and ledger. Billing moves to the published rate for the next tier, and the pricing page sets out when that starts.
Our certificate of registration is still pending. Can setup start now?
Starter is written for a fresh licence with no book, so tell us where your application stands and when you expect to lend. We will set out what can be prepared before the certificate and what has to wait for it.
We are a captive NBFC or a new unit inside a larger group. Which tier fits?
A captive NBFC with assets inside the Starter ceiling fits Starter like any other NBFC. A unit that needs a private VPC deployment, more than one entity on the platform or a formal procurement and security review fits Enterprise.
Who else runs their book on Lokta?
This page names no customers. The proof we put forward is the team: the people who built Lokta helped build Apache Fineract, the open-source lending core, and later built and scaled a commercial lending platform on it.
Where is the loan data hosted, given we answer to the RBI?
Starter books are hosted in-region on AWS. The data belongs to the lender, can be exported, and is never used to train models for anyone else. A private VPC deployment is part of Enterprise.
Does Lokta include a loan origination system?
Loan Origination is on the roadmap and is not available now. No release date is published. A new NBFC picks its own LOS, and the approved loan passes to Lokta through the versioned API.
